VOTE FOR PROGRESS
As your City Councilor, I will work hard to focus on:
Education:
As a teacher in the K-12 public school system and now as a holistic student support program director at Middlesex Community College, I have dedicated my career to helping students achieve their educational and career goals. I have implemented best practices to promote student success and will work collaboratively with Lowell's School Committee to ensure adequate funding and provide necessary resources for our teachers and staff. Additionally, I will strive to increase opportunities for students to engage in music, fine arts, and performing arts, fostering a well-rounded education.

Community Partnerships:
With over 15 years of experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, I have a proven track record of leveraging community partnerships to enhance student success and promote inclusivity. As a board member of various nonprofit organizations, including the American Red Cross and the former Board Chair of the Cambodian Mutual Assistance Association of Lowell (CMAA), I have actively engaged Lowell residents, community-based organizations, and service providers to address our educational, economic, health, social, and cultural needs. I am dedicated to building a more equitable and inclusive Lowell by collaborating with local businesses, non-profit organizations, advocacy groups, and cultural institutions.

Impactful Social Programs:
I am passionate about engaging with community partners and stakeholders to establish innovative approaches that increase access and eliminate barriers for economic mobility. Collaborating with community-based programs, we can provide valuable programs for our youth, elders, and veterans, ensuring their well-being and empowerment. Additionally, I will work to increase affordable housing units, address homelessness, and collaborate with community-based organizations and health institutions to provide culturally accessible mental health services for all residents.
Strong Economic Development:
I believe in sustaining Lowell's local economy and supporting our entrepreneurs. By establishing small business innovation grants and providing mentorship and job training for our youth, we can create an environment that encourages economic growth and entrepreneurship. I will advocate for tax credits and incentives for small businesses and work closely with the City Manager to ensure proper budget management to prevent unnecessary tax increases. Moreover, I will promote cultural attraction events and film festivals to showcase Lowell's rich cultural vibrancy and bring more visitors to downtown, supporting local restaurants and entertainment establishments.

Ensuring Public Safety:
I am committed to making our streets safer for all residents. This includes addressing street repairs to fix our roads, ensuring well-lit streets for nighttime safety, and increasing police presence to build trust and positive relationships with our community. I will prioritize additional training for our police force to enhance their awareness of mental health and de-escalation strategies. Furthermore, I will work to hire more police officers who reflect Lowell's diverse population and increase the number of firefighters while equipping them with appropriate equipment and trucks.
